Lending a helping hand to the victims of Palu disaster

On 28 September 2018, a 7.5 magnitude earthquake followed by a tsunami struck Palu, a capital city of central Sulawesi, Indonesia; killing close to 2,000 people and more than 70,000 homes were destroyed. Our Lesaffre’s subsidiary in Indonesia, Saf Indonusa together with Cherry Boga, one of Lesaffre’s distributors in Indonesia have step out to lend a helping hand to the victims of this disaster. Staff from Saf Indonusa and Cherry Broga volunteered to conduct baking classes to the community in Palu which were held from 5 to 10 November 2018. The aim is to educate the community on basic baking skills which they can use as a source to earn a livelihood while recovering from the disaster. Connecting with the community is part of Lesaffre’s commitment to make a positive impact on the lives of the locals and this support was an experience which the local community would appreciate for a long time to come.
